Construction of Glen Hay Marina is complete except for paving the marina road. The marina is located on Hay Point, a peninsula between Lakefront and Lakeview Commons. The marina entrance and exit are gated to ensure privacy. Marina private lot owners can launch their watercraft from their own waterfront lot. For convenience or special needs, boats may be launched from the large paved ramp at the adjacent public access launch area. With your own lakefront lot, you can leave your boats and jetskis in the water for the full season, or year-round if you will be a full time resident. The marina road circles Hay Point near the 2900 foot contour of the lake, taking in about 400 feet of shoreline. Each private lot has approximately 50 feet of lakefront and runs about 50 feet at right angles to the road, toward and to the lake full level, the 2890 contour. Narrowing as it approaches the marina road, a typical lot has about 2000 square feet of land area for private use. It is planned that, at a later date, the Marina Owners Association will share in the ownership of the remainder of the marina peninsula. A marina pavilion with features and facilities to be decided by the Association will be constructed. For now, each private lot is provided with two 120 volt dedicated power outlets, one at each edge of the lot and located at the lower edge of the road. The marina road is one-way, with sufficient width to accommodate temporary vehicle and boat trailer parking while allowing other traffic to pass. Because Glen Hay owns the land between the full lake level and the 2900 contour, Glen Hay is not bound by the restrictions placed on floating pier/docks by Duke Energy/Nantahala where they own that land, which is most of Nantahala Lake. We anticipate that no annual pier/dock lease fee to Duke Energy will be required of marina lot owners. The Nantahala Lake project is licensed by the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC), and it is our intent to comply with Duke's shoreline management guidelines whenever as they do not unreasonably interfere with the use of the land by Glen Hay and marina lot owners. With the exception of pier/dock size and spacing, marina lot owners are expected to comply with Duke guidelines for construction and mooring of a single family floating pier/dock.
